The International Journal of Research on Mathematics and Science Education, the official publication of the International Society for Mathematics and Science Education (ISMSE), aims to:
• Contribute to the enhancement and advancement of science and mathematics education worldwide.
• Strengthen the research capabilities of educators teaching mathematics and science at all school levels.
• Foster the generation of innovative ideas in mathematics and science education.
(1) Submission of Manuscripts
The International Journal of Research on Mathematics and Science Education is published annually by the ISMSE Editorial Board. Only members of the International Society for Mathematics and Science Education are eligible to submit manuscripts for publication. Manuscripts should be submitted directly to the Editorial Board and must not be under consideration by any other journal at the time of submission. All articles, practical reports, and notes undergo peer review by members of the Editorial Board, and this process typically requires six to eight months.
(2)Types of Manuscripts
• Article: Must present original research and new ideas.
• Practical Report: Should describe empirical teaching practices implemented in schools or similar settings.
• Note: Must propose novel and innovative concepts.
(3)Manuscript Preparation
• All manuscripts must be written in English using Times New Roman font.
• Manuscripts should be formatted on A4 paper with 25 mm margins on both the left and right sides.
• The first page must include the title, author’s name, institutional affiliation, and e-mail address.
• For further formatting details, please refer to “How to Write a Manuscript for the Journal of MSE” at the end of this document.
(4)Review and Decision
Upon receipt, each manuscript undergoes a comprehensive evaluation. Authors will receive one of the following notifications:
・Notice of Acceptance (if the manuscript is approved without revisions).
・Notice of Conditional Acceptance (if minor or moderate revisions are required). Authors must submit the revised manuscript within two months of the conditional acceptance date; failure to do so will be interpreted as a withdrawal of the submission. Only one round of revision is permitted, and the subsequent review will determine final acceptance or rejection.
・Notice of Rejection (if the manuscript does not meet publication standards).
(5)Copyright
Copyright of all published materials is held by the Society, in accordance with the Society’s separate copyright regulations.
